Perched high on the plateau above the James River channel, Chimborazo Park stands as a multi-layered sentinel of wartime history, medical history, and urban community space. Once the site of the Confederacy’s largest military hospital complex, the high ground was transformed in 1874 into a public sanctuary, later housing the 1909 U.S. Weather Bureau station and a 1951 bronze replica of the Statue of Liberty.

Executed under the Sentinel Signature, this monochrome study highlights the weight of the plateau's mature oak canopies, ironwork anchors, and stone masonry against the expanse of the river valley below.
