Standing along the coastal bluff on the southern approach to the San Francisco Bay, the Point Montara Light Station serves as an enduring sentinel of maritime navigation and resilience. Originally established in 1875 as a kerosene lantern before the installation of its cylindrical tower and fresnel lens, the station is a weathered sentinel guiding ships home through treacherous fog and currents.

I chose to document this site under bright, open coastal light to emphasize the weathered patina of the structure's iron lens room, the salt-bleached clapboard quarters, and the sprawling carpet of succulent ice plant cascading toward the surf.
